This policy explains how Elrouby Law Firm handles the personal data that reaches us through this website, the legal basis on which we process it, and the rights you have in relation to it. It is written to comply with Egyptian Law No. 151 of 2020 on Personal Data Protection and its executive regulations, and with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 in respect of visitors resident in the European Economic Area.

Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is Elrouby Law Firm, of 170 Freedom Road, Ibrahimia, Alexandria, Arab Republic of Egypt. For any question or request concerning this policy or your personal data, write to us at info@elrobylaw.com or call +20 3 5902759.

What we collect

Browsing this website requires no account and no personal data. We collect only the following:

  • Contact form details: your name, company name, email address, telephone number, subject area and message — the information you choose to send us through the “Contact us” form — together with a record of the consent you gave and the time the form was submitted.
  • Automatic technical data: as is standard for any website, the server logs the IP address, browser type and operating system, the date and time of the request, and the page requested. These logs are used for operational and security purposes only.
  • Cookies: as set out in the section below.

We do not collect special-category personal data through this website, and we do not use it for profiling or automated decision-making about individuals.

Why we process it, and on what basis

  • Responding to your enquiry: we process contact form details in order to answer you and to assess whether we are able to act. The legal basis is your explicit consent, given by ticking the consent box before sending, which you may withdraw at any time.
  • Operating and securing the site: we process technical data to keep the website stable and protected from misuse. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure service.
  • Professional and legal obligations: we may retain certain correspondence in order to meet our professional obligations as a law firm, or to comply with a legal duty.

We do not use your data for direct marketing, and we do not sell or rent it to any third party.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files your browser stores when you visit the site. We use only those necessary to operate it, and we place no optional cookie before you have consented.

The site currently uses no analytics or advertising trackers. Should any be added, they will run only after your explicit consent, and this policy will be updated before they are switched on.

You can change your choice at any time here, or through the “Cookie settings” control at the foot of every page. You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings, though blocking essential cookies may affect how parts of the site work.

Content embedded from other sites

The contact section embeds a Google Maps view showing the location of our office. When the map is displayed your browser connects to Google’s servers, which may receive your IP address and set their own cookies, under Google’s privacy policy rather than ours. We do not send Google any of the details you submit through the contact form.

Who sees your data

Messages sent through the website are seen only by the firm’s lawyers and staff responsible for answering them, and by our hosting and email providers to the extent technically necessary to run the service. We disclose your data to no one else except with your consent, to comply with a legal obligation, or to establish or defend a legal claim.

How long we keep it

We keep contact form messages for as long as is needed to answer and follow up on them. Where the correspondence does not lead to an engagement, the message and its data are deleted within twelve months of the last contact, unless a legal or professional reason requires us to keep them longer. Technical server logs are deleted automatically after a short period, in line with our hosting provider’s settings.

Your rights

Law No. 151 of 2020 — and the GDPR, if you are resident in the European Economic Area — gives you the following rights:

  • To know what personal data we hold about you, to access it, and to obtain a copy.
  • To have inaccurate data corrected and incomplete data completed.
  • To have your data erased, or its processing restricted, where the law allows.
  • To withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
  • To object to processing based on legitimate interest.
  • To have your data transferred to another controller where this is technically feasible.
  • To complain to the Personal Data Protection Centre in the Arab Republic of Egypt, or to the supervisory authority of your country of residence in the European Union.

To exercise any of these rights, write to info@elrobylaw.com. We respond within the periods the law prescribes, and may ask you to verify your identity before acting on a request, in order to protect your data.

Data security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypting the connection to the site, restricting access to the admin area, and keeping the site’s software up to date. No method of transmission over the internet can, however, be guaranteed absolutely secure.

Lawyer–client confidentiality

Submitting the contact form does not create a lawyer–client relationship, and what you send through it is not covered by professional privilege until an engagement has been accepted in writing. Please do not send confidential or sensitive information through the form before we have confirmed that we are able to act.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy whenever our services or the applicable legal obligations change. The date of the most recent update is shown at the top of this page. If an update introduces new categories of cookie, you will be asked for your consent again on your next visit.
